Michael Ungar - Director

As the Director of the Resilience Research Centre, the Canada Research Chair in Child, Family and Community Resilience and Professor of Social Work at Dalhousie University, as well as a family therapist, Michael Ungar, Ph.D. brings both qualitative research and resilience theory expertise to numerous international research projects. He has also practiced for over 25 years as a Social Worker with children and families in child welfare, mental health, educational, and correctional settings. Michael is also a Marriage and Family Therapist.

He is the author of 14 books and more than 75 articles and book chapters. His works include Working with Children and Youth with Complex Needs: 20 Skillds to Build Resilience, Too Safe for Their Own Good: How Risk and Responsibility Help Teens Thrive, and The Social Worker.
